I’ll Have a Lash Lift Please

So this treatment does exactly what it says on the tin “Tints and lifts eyelashes upwards. Lashes look longer and thicker lasting 4 – 6 weeks”. I give you the Lash Lift.

I had this treatment done in the Park Beauty, Newbridge by the lovely Aisling. When I was brought down into the treatment room I lay up in the bed and she went through how the treatment works and what to expect. My issue was never my length but the thickness/fullness effect that I felt I lacked. Aisling told me that I had very straight lashes, which gives the result of not having full lashes. This treatment doesn’t involve any harsh chemicals (no parabens or formaldehyde) but a glue type that allows your eyelashes to stay in place. This is why you can’t have the treatment done until after 5 – 6 weeks.

Asiling applied pads under my eyes, and then began combing my lashes so that they would spread evenly over the eye roller. She gently applied the liquid all over my eyelashes and then ensured none were stuck to one another to ensure a full look. She left me for a half hour and when she returned she gently removed the roller and separated the eyelashes out. Next was the tint, I love the blue/black colour and this is what she applied. Aisling left me for 15 minutes and then removed the tint. Then she handed me the mirror for the unveiling.

First thought: Wow! It looked like I had got a full set of fake eyelashes in. They look so amazing! Thrilled! I did wonder how long this would actually last for and was it really worth the price tag. Only time would tell!  The treatment took just over an hour and I found the whole experience was pain-free and pretty comfortable. I was very relaxed and found myself drifting in out of a day sleep. I don’t think these photos do the lashes to be honest!

It has been over 3 weeks now and I have to say that the lift is still perfect! I honestly will be booking in again because waking up like this, aka with my lashes done — and still natural-looking — is totally worth it to me. Such a better photo to see the lift and the tint has lasted really long too!

Laser Teeth Whitening

So very excited in getting my teeth whitened professionally. I was gifted a present to get my teeth whitened. I don’t know about you but I always find that when getting something like this done I need to have a reason why to get them done. Thankfully I have my Best Friends wedding in a couple of weeks and no better reason to have a lovely white smile for the wedding photo’s.

I booked in with ‘The Whitening Clinic‘, they have numerous locations and I choose the location that was closet to me, which was Newbridge. The specialized nurse was so lovely. I got 2 sets of 30 minutes and my teeth came out gleaming.

I would be quite sensitive to hot and cold normally and thought I would have taken a reaction but nothing. The whole process was so easy and relaxing (a whole hour to myself!) and afterwards she went through the white diet to ensure they stayed perfectly white for as long a possible.

She recommended to get a top up after 6 months as this helps to lock in the beautiful whiteness and at €49 – I think this is very manageable. So Ill be back again around Christmas to get my top up!

HD Brows at last

Any achievement no matter how small is so satisfying. With growing my eyebrows over the last 3 months and to finally to get my brows done just shows that ‘patience is a virtue’.

I had the lovely Julie from the Harmonie Beauty Room give me amazing HD brows.

So HD brows are a 7 step eyebrow shaping treatment that focuses on design. It involves a combination of techniques, including tinting, waxing and threading, using specialist HD Brows products.

I sat back in the chair and let Julie define my eyebrows with keeping the thickness that I have so desperately wanted.

Here is the Before abs after picture.  I can see a chat arch now and lovely thick brows.

Tinting the Eyelashes

So I took some advice and got my eyelashes tinted to give that ‘I have eyelashes and look at them’ look. Seen I can’t wear make-up in work its nice to have these alternatives that still allow me to feel girly.

I went to The Beauty Hub to have my eyelashes tinted. I had the lovely Rachel.

The overall experience is so relaxing as your lying down and seen your eyes are covered that sense of ‘these next 15 minutes are mine’ sets in.

A small amount of vaseline is placed around your eyes to ensure the thin cotton pad won’t move. The first half of the cotton pad is placed under my bottom eyelashes and tinted and then Rachel had me close my eyes. The tint was place on my top eyelashes to seal the other half of cotton pad is placed over.

I had a cosy blanket over me and I won’t lie I had a lovely snooze.

Rachel was so gentle in taking the pads and excess tint off and the result is faults looking eyelashes. I feel the tint defines each l individual lash showing the length and thickness.

I know I’ll be keeping the tinting up. For everyday wear all I do is give the eyelashes a brush with a spoolie.

Getting the Brows to Grow (Part 2)

The second month started of lovely growth very well, so much so I had to go get them groomed as I suppose it was coming up to Christmas and looking groomed is such a better look, then looking like a crazy lady with crazy eyebrows. Check my post on The Grooming Experience.

Here is to another 4 weeks of growth!

Please note that Week 8 does include the mink eyelashes so a difference can be seen.

So one more month to grow….. still loving the HD Brow lash & brow booster. I haven’t ran out yet, hope it does me till the end.

Getting the Semi’s on

I decided for a function that I would go all out and get Semi permanent mink eyelashes on.

I decided to go and get them done in Aphrodite Beauty Clinic in Clane. It is so easy to book an appointment, checkout their Facebook page.

I was so excited and a little nervous in getting them done as it is a treatment that out so close to your eyes. My therapist was Emma. She went through what she would be doing and how to treat them and to take off mascara at the end of the day.

Two hours later I emerged with fabulously full semi – permanent mink eyelashes.

Getting all Dolled Up

I love a bit of pampering and this time I decided to go all out and have my makeup and hair done for the function that I was attending.

Makeup

I absolutely love a soft smokey eye look and a strong lip colour.

I was so impressed that the foundation colour just blended in so well. Julie used Inglot HD foundation in No.71.

Hair

Because of the style of dress I was going to be wearing I wanted my hair up and off my face. As my hair is so curly it was pinned loosely at the back in two parts, sleek and tight at the sides and left with height at the top of my head. As much as I shook my head nothing moved out of place. Thanks Morgan Richards Hair & Beauty Salon for such an amazing job.

Creating a Clean Canvas

Everyone’s skin is different so the products I use may not suit you. At present I have combination skin as I suffer from dehydrated skin but I have found a miracle product that ensures I don’t have dehydrated skin. It is Botanics Rosehip Oil. I do have some dehydrated lines but this is due to me not drinking enough water (yes I know that’s bold).

My normal morning routine consists of;
1. Cleansing with Botanics Misc Water with a large pad.
2. Toning with Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz
3. Mosturising with Botanics Refreshing eye roll-on All bright for under the eye, for fine lines I use Botanics Super Serum Radiant Youth , for red skin No7 Calm Skin Redness-relief balm. Once dried in, I use an all over hydrating moisturiser at the moment I am using Simple light moisturiser and I mix 2-3 drops of Botanics Facial oil (with rosehip).
4. Then I use the HD Brow Serum.

My Bed Time routine consists of;
1. Remove my makeup with Botanics Miscellar Water (Cleansing solution- All bright) with a large pad and eye makeup with Botanics Soothing eye Makeup Remover – All bright.
2. Moisturising with Murad Age Balance Night Cream.

In addition when I shower I cleanse my skin using Botanics All Bright Foam wash Cleanser and I use No7 Beautiful Skin – Radiance Exfoliater with using a Face Brush.

Once a month I double cleanse and tone, I then apply a face mask (normally a hydrating one use cloth mask). If I need it I’ll also use Nose strips to get rid of any blocked pores. Then I use Monu Firming Fiji Facial Treatment Oil. You warm in the palms of your hands first and is so soothing when rubbing into your face- smells amazing too.

If you are rubbing, wiping etc anything on your face it is important to apply, wipe off the product in particular directions due to the way your skin grows naturally on your face.

Don’t forget to include your décolletage as it needs care and attention too.

Treating your nails

My poor nails…… they suffer badly with me constantly washing them, using alcohol gel (due to work reasons), not using hand cream enough to hydrate. They peel and break ever so easily.

I’ve tried numerous nail treatments, we all have our favourite saviours. Two of which are; ‘Sally Hanson Diamond Strength ‘and ‘Rimmel Nail Nurse – Nail Rescue’. But sadly these couldn’t get my nails to stay strong enough to have a fighting chance for a bit of growth.

Then all of a sudden I hear of a new treatment that has come to our beauty salons. First I think “yeah right as if this will work – it’s a fad” but I was desperate to try anything that would stop my nails from breaking.

I had my first treatment of IBX. This system is made from a 2 product technique application and it took approx. 45 mins, each minute I felt so relaxed (I do love a little bit of pampering). The treatment is recommended to get done at least every 4 weeks but due to how bad my nails were I went back 2 weeks later. I now go back every 4 weeks and I can honestly say it has made the difference.

This treatment doesn’t make your nails look like you have gel, shellac or even nail polish on. It is a system that can be used underneath these additional treatments. The purpose of the IBX System is to ‘Protect’ and ‘Grow’ your nails ‘from within’ so that you get healthy looking nails.

The physical change I can see in my nails is that they don’t flake anymore,  no more splitting, and when it happens that I bang a nail and breaks, it breaks in such away that I don’t lose my full nail.  My nails are stronger and healthier.

Here’s to one resolution that I will be able to keep, “Grow lovely long nails”.

The Grooming Experience

I have been growing my brows and I just had to go get them groomed, as I suppose it was coming up to Christmas and looking groomed is such a better look, then looking like a crazy eyebrow lady.

Julie in Harmonie Beauty Room tidied my eyebrows. She took the length off and plucked my eyebrows to a point not to affect the new hairs growing but still giving me a groomed affect. The more hair that grows the better shape Julie will be able to create and my brows will still look full, which is what I want.

I am so pleased with my look and results. You can see they have grown so much. Here is to another month of growth!
