My Journey to Health – Yoga

So as you already have read I had back surgery, its now coming up to the two year mark. I thought my back issue was sciatica and due to this went to my GP who sent me to multiple Physiotherapists and it would help for awhile but in the end the pain always came back. I thought to help with this I would try out Pilates and Yoga. Yoga won – I love the movements and gives me a rested mind.

So my back issue wasn’t sciatica and as you have read I had surgery. This fixed the problem but the yoga practice has not left me.

After my surgery I was able to give a better commitment to Yoga. I have been able to achieve poses that I never thought I was going to be able to do. I do Hot Yoga in the Crown Centre, Naas. I love the 30°C heated room, I feel that this allows me to get into positions quicker and my muscles don’t hurt me as much!

There are different instructors on different days and you can do an hour or hour half class. They also run a workshop once a month which is about 3 hours.

Any of the instructors that I have had are amazing they ensure that you only go to your limit – it’s never worth the injury. They can re-position you, if you have a particular injury to ensure you get the same result as the rest of the class.

A big shout out to Danielle, Darren and Laura, have loved every class no matter how hard it was!

My Journey to Health

Hi All,

This is going to be short and sweet.

I am going to give you a road map of My Journey to Health.

Due to my back difficulties (I won’t be going into detail) I found that I wasn’t able to be as active as I had once been. This led to a lack of fitness and bad habits.

I since had back surgery and due to this eye opening event in my life, I took a new outlook to life and started a new journey.

I will be posting up blogs on the changes I made to my life.

Enjoy!

It’s Face Mask Time

I’ve being trying out a couple of face masks to see which ones I find best that suit my skin. I think that is the only way you can truly find out is through patience of testing.

Now I have sensitive skin and react quite quickly to products. I also have dehydrated skin (from working in an air condition controlled environment) and combination.

So with that in mind, here are my trial and tribulations;

1. PS Face Masque in Chocolate from Penneys20160626_175523.jpg

First Thoughts: I was in love with the smell, it really smelt like chocolate. It was easy to spread all over my clean face and left for approx. 20 mins. I was really happy with the results. I felt that it really gave me glow and my skin felt really soft.

Week Later: I think the mask gave me a really good boost, skin didn’t look as tired. I had a few minor breakouts but I could put this down to hormones. I would use this product again – in fact I have 5 in the drawer to keep me going.

T Mask2. Pro Puryfing Thermal Face Mask from Tesco

First Thoughts: The creamy texture is quite sticky, hard to apply due to the consistency. And WOW it’s WARM! Left it on the approx. 15 mins and was easy to take off with Lukewarm water. I did splash my face with cold water to ensure my pores were closed so that no clogging/congestion could occur. My face does looked flushed from the heat!

Final Thoughts: I think this mask is definitely for winter and not a summer mask. It gives a your skin a great boost and had no break outs.

Bo Mask3. Botanics Ionic Clay Mask from Boots

First Thoughts: Easy to apply, smells alot like muck but not a horrible smell. Easy to apply, spreads evenly. Left for approx. 30 mins. Washed off easily (don’t use a white face cloth) and skin is left glowing, soft and very clean and clear. I feel it really cleaned my nose area as this sometimes feel clogged.

Final Thoughts: Skin is still soft and glowing. I love the ingredients no harsh on your skin!

Clay Tea mask4. Tee Tree & Witch Hazel with Active Charcoal Facial Mask from Boots

First Thoughts: This is sticky, hard to spread but manageable. I left this on for approx. 25 mins, slight warming feeling and wow this makes your skin really glow. There is not one clogged pore on my face. Truly amazing product.

Final Thoughts: I felt my skin is starting to feel really dirty after a few days, as if its got clogged up. Not sure if this is down to the product. Tried again and seems to be occurring. I’m not into face masks that I have to use every couple of days.

Hope this has helped!

I’ll Have a Lash Lift Please

So this treatment does exactly what it says on the tin “Tints and lifts eyelashes upwards. Lashes look longer and thicker lasting 4 – 6 weeks”. I give you the Lash Lift.

I had this treatment done in the Park Beauty, Newbridge by the lovely Aisling. When I was brought down into the treatment room I lay up in the bed and she went through how the treatment works and what to expect. My issue was never my length but the thickness/fullness effect that I felt I lacked. Aisling told me that I had very straight lashes, which gives the result of not having full lashes. This treatment doesn’t involve any harsh chemicals (no parabens or formaldehyde) but a glue type that allows your eyelashes to stay in place. This is why you can’t have the treatment done until after 5 – 6 weeks.

Asiling applied pads under my eyes, and then began combing my lashes so that they would spread evenly over the eye roller. She gently applied the liquid all over my eyelashes and then ensured none were stuck to one another to ensure a full look. She left me for a half hour and when she returned she gently removed the roller and separated the eyelashes out. Next was the tint, I love the blue/black colour and this is what she applied. Aisling left me for 15 minutes and then removed the tint. Then she handed me the mirror for the unveiling.

First thought: Wow! It looked like I had got a full set of fake eyelashes in. They look so amazing! Thrilled! I did wonder how long this would actually last for and was it really worth the price tag. Only time would tell!  The treatment took just over an hour and I found the whole experience was pain-free and pretty comfortable. I was very relaxed and found myself drifting in out of a day sleep. I don’t think these photos do the lashes to be honest!

It has been over 3 weeks now and I have to say that the lift is still perfect! I honestly will be booking in again because waking up like this, aka with my lashes done — and still natural-looking — is totally worth it to me. Such a better photo to see the lift and the tint has lasted really long too!

Tough Stuff

So I wanted to give my skin a good exfoliation before I got my new tan sprayed for the holidays. I wanted a tough scrub, like a sugar scrub and didn’t want to pay an arm and leg for it either.

So when I saw it on the shelf I knew it was for me ‘Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff’. I love Marissa Carters products and know that my skin has never taken a reaction so I always feel I am in safe hands.

So I squeezed out a good amount as I like starting from the bottom up. So legs are a big area and I was surprised to see that the exfoliator was a beautiful purple. As I rubbed into skin and I felt seen it was a thick grain that it would really get rid of all the dead skin and any left over fake tan. I worked it in by doing circular movements and rinsed it all away.

I pat dried myself and felt my skin so lovely and soft.

I have to say this is definitely a keeper in my cupboards.
