The wrinkle cream of all wrinkle creams

So when it comes to products offering the stars, the moon and the sun, let’s just say I’m skeptical.

I went to an open evening in The Beauty Hub, Naas to see a couple of new brands being unveiled,
•Moa
•Jouve

And the Jouve ‘restoring & tightening cream’ really caught my attention.

The lady they had as a model had deep wrinkles. As they applied the tiniest amount of product to her area of problems (crows feet and frown lines (aka. laughter lines)), we were told that smallest amount as needed as if u put to much on it creates a chalky affect. The product absorbed into her skin and within minutes you could see her wrinkles disappear.

I had to have it I have become obsessed with my laughter lines. I was also told the first time you use it,  is the worse application as the product will build up each time.

I took a before picture but I think it’s write hard to see the area I am talking about but everyone knows their own fave and what it needs.

I placed a small amount as instructed and you let it absorb into the skin before applying your normal creams. I was told it was fine to do your toner first then apply Jouve.

image

Over the next few weeks I could see when I applied to much a chalkyness happened (like flaky skin) and I could feel a tightness. I wasn’t sure if it was wiring as I could still see that dreaded line but due to young skin I was told this would act as a preventer.

I really realised the purification was working when I stopped using it for 2-3 days (was running late for work). I could see the difference of not using this product.

I love my new miracle cream.

Afternoon Tea in the Westbury

Enjoying Afternoon Tea is one of life’s accomplishments.

I was delighted that my friend chose the Westbury for Afternoon Tea. Walking into town on a lovely hot sunny early afternoon was the start of an amazing day.

The layout and presentation was amazing. It truly is such a girly experience. The Westbury was so busy with so many people (aka ladies of leisure) having Afternoon Tea. It set a tone that we too were born for this type of life – to be served and every delight to be met.

Seen we had never done Afternoon Tea in the Westbury before the lady that showed us to our Sofa went through the selection on the menu. When we had time to think (when our waiter came over to ask for our order we had to stop talking) and so we ordered Pink Champagne (Moet – of course) to start with.

Our waiter would come back for us to choose what else we required. We went through the menu to choose from the selection of coffees and teas.  I’m not a coffee drinker but love my tea – I like trying new flavours so for my first I went for peach. To my surprise it came out really pink but it was so delicious.

If you have any allergies etc, the selection of cakes, pastries and sandwiches can be changed to cater for your need. We were told that the selection was seasonal so we were still in Spring and decided that we would go for the surprise and guess what we were eating.

Overall, the experience was truly amazing and cannot wait to go for afternoon tea again

The Flawless Foundation Brush

After purchasing the Flawless Foundation Brush like most things I left in awe. I found it so hard to just decide to use it. The brush was just so cute and delicate, it’s briskness do soft. I had put the brush on a pedicel and was finding out hard to break the chain of “just use it”.

My blendy sponge was absolutely manky looking and thought this is the moment – I am going to use the flawless foundation brush to blend my contouring into my face. And I was in awe! I have been converted – it really gives you a flawless finish!

I went wild and even used it for my colour correcting especially around the eye area (I use yellow), check out my original post ‘Colour Correcting‘.

For the price of the brush (check out my original post ‘Most wanted Makeup Brush‘), I have ordered more as now I can use this for multiple areas on my face. The brush is just so soft, it leaves no marks that a brush was even used.

Review of ‘Rimmel Sun Shimmer In-Shower Self Tan’

So I finally got the time and courage to use the new ‘Rimmel Sun Shimmer In-Shower Self Tan’. The product suggests that you can use all over your body (I didn’t use this on my face – just in case!) and that it takes a mere one minute to apply.

I had researched about doing fake tan in your shower and I found that St. Tropez offer this also. However, they require you to turn the shower off and after 15 minutes then rinse off. So when I decided to but the rimmel in shower tan, it was really over timing.

The instructions were basic;

  1. Shower with your usual shower gel and rinse off
  2. Apply and massage the product evenly onto wet skin. The more often you apply, the more intense the tanning result will be.
  3. Rinse off
  4. Dry yourself without rubbing and dress-up!

Simple instructions I find are much easier to follow as it doesn’t make the process complicated. However, in the step 2 the diagram shows the lady putting the tan with – what I took as a tanning mitt! So a tanning mitt came with me into the shower.

Before:

So I showered as normal (step 1 covered), for this I did turn the shower off and tied up the aul gruig (hair for the non-Irish speakers). I applied quite generously. I noticed the amazing smell, how amazingly soft my skin started to feel and the lack of colour when applying – so I was applying blind! When all rubbed in I rinsed off by taking the shower hose down and ensuring that all was rinsed. I patted myself down with a dark towel and hoped for the best.

I applied this on the morning of the day out that I needed it for, so I really took a big chance. I noticed a slight glow of the skin and thought this was nice – could be a bit darker. As the day went on, nothing startled me to say “OH NO IM ORANGE” which in my books is a good thing!

The next morning however, I woke up win a fantastic tan from the knee’s up. I was quite patchy and had tan built up around the ankles – not a good look! I don’t think this was the products fault but down to my tanning application abilities. I think once I have started to use the tan a bit more you get a knack of how to apply properly.

The overall feel and smell (so girls you don’t smell like popcorn or biscuits) I think is amazing and the ease of application I think is great – just so easy! I would however recommend that you apply the night before the day you want it as then you will have a good looking tanned body. I am still on day 5 after application and no top-up required or any patchy-ness has appeared not like the last time!

I know I will be giving this tan another go!

Cleaning your Makeup Brushes

Cleaning your Makeup Brushes doesn’t have to be a massive ordeal (even though it seems like it a times), once you have the right tools.

To clean my brushes I use olive oil & a anti – bacterial soap/wash  (this can be either a soap or waking up liquid). The olive oil is key to keep your brushes bristles in good condition.

I invested in a cleaning pad, mine is from Dealz (so expensive at €1.49) & is supposed to be for washing/exfoliating your face. My hand fits in to hold pad in place and the dirt (aka my old makeup) just runs out of my brushes.

And then the messy part, dip your brush into your cleaning mixture and then brush the brush over the cleaning pad. I always know when my makeup brushes are clean when the water runs clear. Ensure excess water is removed from the brush.

Place a towel out and lye your brushes out flat to dry.

If you can’t get the helpful cleaner from Dealz, Reat Techniques have brought their own version.

It’s that time again – HOLIDAY TIME!

I love the summer as we get some sunny days in Ireland but most importantly we get to go away and see new places.

Pending on what kind of holiday you are going on; if it’s staying in Ireland, City Breaks or full on relaxing holiday you need to pack appropriately. I think it is key to know your location when packing.

So if staying in Ireland I think you can wear all your summer clothes that you have in that wardrobe of yours but to cope with our ever changing weather you definitely need a rainmack. If you are going to brave the elements by wearing shorts – wear them with tights.

City Breaks are amazing, as you get to see a wonderful city/town, enjoy the food and soak up some atmosphere. Once again this will all depend on where you are going but having the basics are key. Comfortable flats are a must – if these are pumps, sandals or runners, whatever makes your heels feel like they are walking on air.

Full on Sunny Holiday – so it’s going to be warm. Let’s be honest it comes down to the bikini/takini or swimsuit (whatever floats your boat) and this is so personal in what you want to wear. There is a great selection out there. If you are cursed/blessed with a busty asset then I suggest you pay the extra for swimwear that will give you the support for those bad boys. The next important key thing you need to have is Sun Protection. I don’t know about you but I don’t want wrinkle-y sun damaged body when I get older. So it’s all about the protection; this just doesn’t include SPF, you also need a hat for that lovely head of yours and sunglasses (should have UVA/UVB protection).

Here are some ideas;
