Insight & random thoughts of one Irish girl
I can’t believe February is just over, the tone seems to be flying this year. So here’s a few things that I bought;
I also bought a few others check out my blog posts fir EOS & Balmi lip balms, Beverly Hills Charcoal toothpaste , Contour Crayons and my lovely new glasses.
Hope you picked up some good stuff this month, can’t wait to start wearing some of the spring clothes that I purchased.

Sometimes food can be very boring so to add some flavour I marinated these pork chops.
What you need:
•Pork Chops
For marinade –
•1 Tbsp white vinegar
•1 tsp of honey
•1 tsp of smoked paprika
•1 tsp of chilli powder
•Dash of light soy sauce
•Dash of worshtichuire sauce
The how:
•Mix all your ingredients together for the marinade in a bowl
•Add your chops ensure covered by marinade
•Cling film or put tin foil over the bowl and place in fridge for 2-3 hrs (if you have the time leave over night)
You can either bake, grill or fry them – I decided to go with fried on a grill pan with some fry light.
You can serve pretty much what ever you want – chips, peas, roasted veg. I decided to go with a baked potato (a bit of philadephia) and some turnip & carrots (my mashing skills are not up to scratch).

Wanting something healthy and sweet can be tricky, try my spin on my apple/berry crumble.
What you need:
•1 Cooking apple
•Rasberries (half a punnet)
•Blueberries (half a punnet)
•1 tbsp of cinnamon
•4 Macadamia Nuts
•15g of Porridge Oats
•15g of Alpen no added sugar muesli
•Powdered Sweetner
The how:
•Remove skin from apple and slice around the core
•Place sliced apples into oven friendly dish
•Sprinkle Powdered Sweetner over apples
•Add berries
•In a bowl add Porridge, muesli and cinnamon, mix well
•Pour over apples and berries
•Chop up macadamia nuts abs sprinkle
•Cook at 160°C (fan oven) for 50 mins
This will make your crumble nice and crispy.
And serve, optional to add some fromage frais or just have it plain.

Who doesn’t love penneys? A shop that keeps on giving.
When I saw the contour crayons I knew I had to have them.
I have been trying them out for awhile now as wanted to make sure what I felt about them – as they look exactly like crayons. Really colouring your face in.
I purchased the colour Fair and with this the 3 shades are;
• Highlighter
• Bronze
• Shade
The texture feels wax-y without giving you the shine or weight. They are very easy to use and can add as much as little to your face as you want. I found that it was so easy to contour the nose area as it is a nice pointed nib.
I blended in with a beauty blender (aka. sponge) or a foundation brush pending on how much applied.
It is definitely an item I will be keeping in my make-up bag.
However, if you don’t want to contour with a liquid form. Why not try a powder? Penneys also have this to meet all your contouring needs.

The so easy to make Stir Fry.
What you need:
•Prawns
•Smokey Bacon
• Onions
•Peppers
•Broccoli
•Mushrooms
•Carrots
•1 tsp Smoked Paprika
•2 tbsp of almond and cocunut soya milk
•Fish stock
•1 tsp Garam masla
•Spinach
• Tomato puree
The how:
•Chop up your onions, carrots, peppers, mushrooms
•Add to heated wok with Spray lite
•Add all spices as detailed above
•Add some tomato puree
•Add the fish stock to some hot water and pour in
•Cook bacon separately and then cut them up and add to Wok
• Add prawns
•Stir well
•Lastly add the broccoli to the wok (leave on top)
•Then simmer for 5-10 mins
Serve with pasta, rice or noodles and some yummy fake garlic bread.

When I saw Beverly Hills Charcoal toothpaste I just had to try it. Black is now the new white. Who would have thought that black toothpaste actually is going to clean your teeth!
This isn’t a traditional whitening toothpaste as it is a stain remover. It doesnt have any baking soda so its protecting your enamel on your teeth.
I was hoping that this is what I need to get that perfect white gleaming smile that we all crave.
So I feel that it is great product in getting rid of stains especially with drinking tea and red wine. But getting the perfect white gleaming smile I feel my next step is to go and get it professional done.

The things you need:
•Chicken diced
•Peas
•Onions
•Pasasta
•2 tsp Curry powder
•1 tsp of Garam masla
•1 tsp paprika
•1 tsp ginger
•Spray Lite
The how:
•Spray your wok with Spray lite
•Pour in your diced chicken and cook
•Add your onions
•Add your pasasta
•Add your spices as listed above
• Finally add your peas
• Simmer for 5-10 mins
Serve with rice and enjoy!

With only one pair of glasses and the fear that some freak accident will occur or worse I loose them. I’d be lost without them.
I decided that I needed a spare pair (a similar look to what I have now), with the summer coming in I also thought I’d pick up a pair of sunnies too (so that I can see clearly in the sun).
So I went online to Specsavers and started to browse the selection. You are able to save your favourites and then this list is emailed to you.
When I went into Specsavers in Newbridge I found it so easy brining up my list and then went browsing to see how the glasses felt on and see how the look.
I picked my favourites (which were three) and then made the tough decision of which one I wanted.
Sadly they didn’t have the sunglasses I wanted so maybe closer to the sunny summer I’ll have another look.
Delighted with my new pair of glasses.

So the amazing clear makeup drawers and holder. Penneys have restocked again and if you haven’t got it now you may be out of luck.
However, here is an alternative. If you are like me have a load of glossybox boxes and wanted to put them to good use and wanted somewhere to store your Makeup etc – this is for you.
I used 4 glossybox boxes to make my new storage system. I had no normal DIY glue all I had was ‘No more nails’ and a Stanley knife.
I cut two lids for the sides and another lid for the back.
I used the lids ends to give the base additional support and used a full box for the top.
Then for the drawers I used full boxes without the lids. To make a handle I used the ribbon that you get in the Glossybox’s. Using the Stanley I cut a slit in the middle and fed the ribbon through and tied a knot.
I put the drawers in and now only have to decide what to full them with.
It gives you so much space and really didn’t cost me anything as had everything all ready in the house.

With this ever changing weather, from snow to rain and a few little rays of sunshine coming through our clouds my poor lips are not feeling the love.
They started to become very chapped and new I needed that little bit more protection I have used Caramex and he tradditional vaseline but I felt I just needed something stronger and thick coverage.
I decided to try Balmi which I got from Boots and found that the pot was a good size for the handbag. However, the pot threads broke easily as I was twisting on and off the lid. I felt the coverage was really good but felt the wax vaseline was quite soft so the pointed peak just smudged away easily.
I had gotten EOS pots from the US and loved it and when I saw them now being sold in River Island I just had to get again. It’s expensive for vaseline but worth every penny. The wax is strong and the pot is durable.
