Afternoon Tea in the Westbury

Enjoying Afternoon Tea is one of life’s accomplishments.

I was delighted that my friend chose the Westbury for Afternoon Tea. Walking into town on a lovely hot sunny early afternoon was the start of an amazing day.

The layout and presentation was amazing. It truly is such a girly experience. The Westbury was so busy with so many people (aka ladies of leisure) having Afternoon Tea. It set a tone that we too were born for this type of life – to be served and every delight to be met.

Seen we had never done Afternoon Tea in the Westbury before the lady that showed us to our Sofa went through the selection on the menu. When we had time to think (when our waiter came over to ask for our order we had to stop talking) and so we ordered Pink Champagne (Moet – of course) to start with.

Our waiter would come back for us to choose what else we required. We went through the menu to choose from the selection of coffees and teas.  I’m not a coffee drinker but love my tea – I like trying new flavours so for my first I went for peach. To my surprise it came out really pink but it was so delicious.

If you have any allergies etc, the selection of cakes, pastries and sandwiches can be changed to cater for your need. We were told that the selection was seasonal so we were still in Spring and decided that we would go for the surprise and guess what we were eating.

Overall, the experience was truly amazing and cannot wait to go for afternoon tea again

If you are heading to down to Punchestown this month, preparation is key. The Punchestown Irish National Hunt Festival (running from 26th April – 30th April) is one of the highlights of the Irish sporting and social calendar. The special combination of thrilling sporting action, brilliant live entertainment, delicious food and drink, family fun, dazzling glamour or casual comfort is unequaled thanks to the unique Punchestown Festival atmosphere.

Once you choose what you are going to wear then it comes down to the shoes. I’m sorry girls but for me it is down to the comfort as surviving the day is what I want to aim for. I don’t want to be walking around like a dinosaur. However, I do want good looking shoes too! Too much to ask for?

Here are a few ideas;

Then the few key accessories to complete the whole outfit; if this should be a hat/fascinator, bag, parasol/umbrella, necklace/watch or even a coat. Here are a few more ideas;

I know I am really looking forward to going!

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day (a.k.a Paddy’s Day) is a world celebration of celebrating all that is green and beautiful.

So what is it really all about? Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, “the Day of the Festival of Patrick”), is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick ( c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

Valentines day

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
This can only mean one thing-
Love is in the air and Valentine’s is on its way.
image
Valentine’s wouldn’t be my favourite day – a hallmark day to celebrate LOVE! Maybe that is a little bit cynical but heh everything goes up in price, couples are on steroids and all the resturant’s are jam packed.

Doesn’t sound very romantic!

So you all have a choice you can head out into the jam packed resturant’s or have a nice romantic night in. Your partner can cook or you can cook or you have a lovely takeaway. Loads of candles around the place, just the two of you.

Now it comes down to card and the present. To buy or not to buy that is the question. You can choose to buy your card, make your card, send a virtual one or not.

The present is now quite hard as do you get your significant other something significant. A proposal is always nice but maybe you aren’t there yet. You can always get them some Smelly Stuff (aka. Perfume or man spray), a watch, a necklace, a kitten or some yummy sweets.

Who doesn’t love choxolates; there’s lindor,  ferreo roche, malteasers or marshallows with love notes (can get these from Boomf.

And if your not loved up this valentines don’t forget you can always love yourself. Yes any excuse to go buy yourself something amazing.

Happy Valentines everybody!

New Year…… New Resolutions

It’s that time of a year again,  where the clocks start again and we are able to invite a new me (you) to the world.

The meaning of a new year can be defined as ‘the beginning of the year that is about to begin our had just begun’. Not very philosophical but factual. So are are new years resolutions supposed to be factual. Are we supposed to succeed what targets we set for ourselves?

My New Years Resolution
1. See a new country
2. Plan an amazing Hen for my BFF & watch her get married
3. Take time to Relax
4. Go up in a hot air balloon or helicopter
5. Grow my nails, hair & eyebrows  (more)
6. Plan our wedding (don’t worry he knows)
7. See my friends more

I wonder will I succeed in completing my new years resolution list?

Do you have a list? Will you be able to keep it?

Enjoying Dublin’s Christmas Atmosphere

Xmas 1

I am a firm believer that children make Christmas. Seen that I don’t have any, I try to be the biggest child ever (it’s a competition between my other half and I). We both absolutely love Christmas and to soak up some more of the Christmas-y spirit we decided to go in to Dublin and have a look at around and if we were staying late get to see the Christmas lights.

We went in early and the ques to park in the Jervis centre had already started, we decided to go for the Ilac centre and we qued for about 20 minutes to get into the parking lot. Went straight up to the 4th floor where there it was only half full as the other levels were completely full.

As we walked around for the first hour we were admiring the Christmas decorations and the Christmas windows (really liked Arnotts). The stalls were still being set-up so the full buzz wasn’t in full swing at this stage.

As time moved on you could see everyone was buying and in some sort of a panic. It was hard to weave in between the crowds and I think if we had stayed any longer it would only get worse.

Bought a few final bits but still no star or angel for the top of our tree, maybe next year?

Do you love Christmas? How do you get into the Christmas-y spirit?

Christmas Tradition

christmas_wallpaper_w2eI’m sitting here with my Christmas jumper on & puddings hanging from my ears (“Thanks Penneys”) and I feel all excited and giggly inside as Santa is nearly here.

Every Christmas there are certain traditions that I love upholding;

  1. Putting up Christmas Decorations
  2. Wearing a Christmas Jumper whenever possible
  3. Buying new PJ’s for Christmas Eve and new clothes for Christmas Day
  4. Making homemade stuffing for the turkey
  5. Watch Christmas Movies, i.e.: Home Alone, Die Hard, India Jones, Love Actually
  6. Going down the town on Christmas Eve morning and having Hot Chocolate while soaking up the Christmas-y atmosphere
  7. Going to my partners Granny’s house on Christmas Eve for tea, chicken vol-au-vents and smoked salmon
  8. Having a Christmas stocking at the end of my bed for Santa to fill it up
  9. Waking up on Christmas morning, making the tea and then waiting patiently for my dad to hand out presents
  10. Eating two Christmas Dinners; one in my Mothers house and another in my Mother-in-law’s house

Do you have any Christmas traditions that have lasted? Or are you thinking of starting new Christmas traditions?

Getting Ready for Christmas

I think the most important thing when getting ready for christmas is to feel amazing. One of the main things on my list is definitely to get defluffed. I don’t know about you but when I get waxed I feel so very clean (don’t worry I won’t be showing you my hairy legs).

FB_IMG_1450004887703

I went to the amazing The Beauty Hub in Ladystown, Naas. The beautiful Jacqui has successfully created an atmosphere that is very relaxing. The decor is so pretty and gives you a sense of relaxation (you know you are in the right place).

The service was amazing & came with a very warm greeting. My therapist was Rachel (who was so lovely). She brought me down to the room, ensured I was happy with what I was going to be getting done and then told me how to get ready for my defluffing experience. The whole process was discrete and comfortable. Rachel is a perfectionist and I came out as smooth as a baby’s bum. It’s such a clean feeling.

If you are a regular waxer like me or just starting I can’t recommended enough you going to The Beauty Hub. The wax they use really gives you a smooth finish and is such good quality. I can’t rave enough about the girls they are so professional and help you with all your beauty needs.

Are you a waxer or are you tempted to try it out?

To Après Ski or not to Après Ski that is the Question!

apresAs I was shopping in Aldi earlier this week, it was clear the skiing holiday atier could be bought it one simple swoop. They have it all from socks, thermal undergarments, jackets, boots, googles and helmets for both adults and children.

Fond memories of when I’ve gone skiing and I thought to myself should I go again? It’s not too close but not to far away to avail of a good offer and I do love Andora, as you get a balance of good ski & night life. This is not to to say that you have to be in a group as that’s what great about this sort of holiday- everyone comes together!

Have you ever gone skiing? Would you be tempted to go this season?
