Review of ‘Kylie Jenner LipGloss’

I love a lip gloss that I don’t have to apply more than once. Yes – I am lazy! I don’t like having to put the effort in more than once. I do my makeup and it should last. So I gave in – I bought some Kylie Jenner Lip Glosses.

5ecd4ad242c65597123dd572b443cc42It took me awhile to choose what I wanted from the website, as I was going back and forth via Google and Instagram getting swatches of what the colour would actually look like. As this is one of the things that the website lacks, the only pictures that are presented is the packaging. Some of the colours that I wanted were sold out and I found myself going back to the drawing board. I didn’t want to purchase a colour I wasn’t really going to wear. If it was possible I would have bought the birthday limited edition Matte Lipstick Mini Kit! Who doesn’t love gold?

I decided to go with the Lip kits as sure I might aswell get the lip liner too, to ensure my lips would look perfect! I went with Dolce K and Reign.

05dbd280e52f7d9f06166b140416a774Dolce K is a Liquid Matte Lipstick has high intensity pigment for an instant bold matte lip. The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out.
Reign is a Metal Lipstick prkylie-jenner-metallic-lip-kits-inline-2097004ovides bold metallic lips with a creamy feel and rich mousey texture. While this is a long wearing formula, it does not ever dry down on your lips, lips remain
moisturized and comfortable with a shimmering metallic finish. For an ultra-dramatic look, layer Reign over the top of your favorite matte lipstick. However, the applicator I found was too fluffy and the metal lipstick does not dry like the ‘Liquid Matte Lipstick’. I wouldn’t purchase this product again! It doesn’t have the stay on power that you expect with the Kylie lipsticks.

The exchange rate is great at the moment between the dollar ($) and the euro (€) but I thought it would still be worth it (I had a look to see on amazon what they were coming in at approx. €40 with the exhange rate between sterling (£) and the euro (€)) and don’t forget that you have the delivery charges aswell. So worked out at around €60 – which I thought wasn’t to bad. When they arrived I did however had to pay the tax that was due but also a An Pòst fee which brought which was another €17. So it was a splurge.

I would definitely buy the Liquid Matte Lipstick again just not a Metal lipstick.

Review of Pippa Pallet

I was in search of a pallet that could tick the boxes pur-sè. I wanted something that had;

  • Compact
  • Bronzer (a tone that would suit my Irish pale skin)
  • Highlighter (that really sparkles)
  • Blusher (something rosey)
  • Eyeshadow’s that suit hazel eyes

I was really surprised that the Pippa Pallet really gave me everything that I really wanted and such a wide selection of colours that could bring me from night to day.

I absolutely love this pallet. There is no shade that I don’t use and you can build up your look for going out or you can use the products lightly for your daily look. It is a great size and no space is wasted to holding brushes that you are not going to use.

pippa-palette

This is my go to pallet when I am off traveling and trying to bring the essentials. Yes, this pallet has now become an essential in my life. I honestly feel that it really suits my pale skin. So that when you are in clamy country this makes my skin fantastic.

The only thing that I don’t particularly like is the packaging other than that it’s a ‘Gold star’ from me.

Cocoa Brown Shimmer Oil

I love a product that is nourishing and heating to the skin and what is even better that a product dies this and gives you a radiant glow.
image
I want expecting the body oil to tan me like what Cocoa Brown Tan normally does. I can see the specs of glitter, shimmering in the bottle. I purchased a new tan mitt with the body oil so that I would be able to have a clean application and that I could apply without affecting my hands.

I pumped away into the tan mitt and applied in sweeping strokes and then massaged into the skin. I didn’t know if I needed to let it dry and was concerned that seem is an oil that it would run off easily. So I left myself to finish the prepaid until I had to get dressed. I didn’t see it affecting the now absorbed body oil.

It gave my skin a healthy glow and my skin felt so soft. I haven’t wore white when wearing this oil but I can’t see on the clothes that I have worn that it comes off easily.

49634e2c170cfe73a0d12e77b94751ec

I love this shimmer, it washes off easily but perfect for the night out or a day time look. It makes you feel better but what Cocoa Brown product doesn’t!?! The only thing I found was that the glitter was all over my clothes after wearing them but washed off the clothes easily.

Have you tried Cocoa Brown Shimmer Oil yet? If not you need too!

Dealing with a Red Face

Rosacea is a skin condition that mainly affects the face and if you are fair-skinned and have blue eyes you may be more prone to the flare ups associated with it. It usually presents as bouts of flushing, but these episodes can last longer and become more frequent over time. While redness is one symptom, stinging, burning and visible blood vessels on the skin’s surface are also evidence of rosacea. Apparently rosacea affects one (1) in ten (10).

what-is-rosacea

This is where things get a little more complicated because, in truth, the specific causes aren’t known. However, as it’s a condition that flares up between periods of dormancy it is possible to identify triggers, some of which are;

  1. Changes in temperature
  2. Alcohol
  3. Spices and spicy foods
  4. Working out
  5. Stress
  6. Sun exposure

Annoyingly there is no cure for rosacea, but more and more brands are bringing out products to help minimise its redness and there’s more information than ever about the lifestyle choices, such as eliminating or avoiding certain foods, that can help you to keep the condition under control. Certain skincare ingredients, despite their good intentions, can aggravate rosacea-prone skin. Alcohol, retinoids and strong fragrances should be patch-tested first as a matter of caution.

rosacea

So it is a case of managing your symptoms when it comes to treating rosacea, but the good news is that there are a lot of products that are now designed to deal with it. Choosing the right products is just as important as limiting other lifestyle triggers such as food and alcohol. Brands like La Roche Posay and Avene are particularly catered to highly sensitive and rosacea-prone skins. In severe cases you should discuss with your GP and they could possibly prescribe a treatment. If you’re sysmptoms are;

  1. Redness – you should use a Daily moisturizer that caters for skin prone to redness and is designed for everyday use, such as La Roche Posay Rosaliac UV Rich (contains SPF 15 to ensure your complexion stays protected and contain’s green pigment to immediately counter the redness and red tones in your skin) and Avene Antirougeurs Jour Redness Relief Moisturizing Protecting Cream (soothes and hydrates).
  2. Stinging – you should use a Face mist. Mists are great if you are having a moment, so if you feel the warmth of redness flaring up, spritz Skyn Iceland Arctic Face Mist(contains glacial water and anti-inflammatory ingredients to soothe and calm, and the vitamin-rich mist also sets makeup) and Avene Thermal Water Spray  (contains Low minerals and rich in silica).
  3. Burning – you should use a calming cleanser that fights free radicals while also toning and calming your skin, such as REN Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Gel (contains ultra-calming aloe vera for added soothing).
  4. Visible blood vessels – you should use a Roscea Treatment such as Dermalex Rosacea Cream (creates a protective film on the skin helping to restore a thick and hydrated epidermis).

PS Makeup Lip Liner

I love a warm lip and thought I would try ‘PS Makeup Lip Liner‘ (Colour Shade: Berry) and to add a bit of definition/ombre I used ‘Catrice Made to Stay Inside Eye‘ (both can be purchased in Penneys). I find that lip liners and eye pencils can be used on either your lips or eyes – gets the same job done.

Step 1:20160813_094125.jpg

Ensure you have a clean and hydrated lip to work on. I always start off with ensuring that I have clean lips and have coated them with so Vaseline/lip balm.

Step 2:20160813_094326.jpg

With the ‘PS Makeup Lip Liner’ draw on your lip line, if you want fuller lips draw just outside your lip line. I love have a defined Cupids Bow, so I take ages ensuring that this perfect.

Step 3: 20160813_094502.jpg

Colour your lips in with the ‘PS Makeup Lip Liner’ leave to settle on the lip before applying the  ‘Catrice Made to Stay Inside Eye’. Start to apply in the centre of your bottom lip and then the bottom/centre of your top lip.

Step 4:

These are the optional steps. You can use ‘Lipcote‘ to ensure that your lipstick won’t move. Also to make your Cupids Brow pop that little bit add some highlighter to it.

20160813_094518.jpg

I found the ‘PS Makeup Lip Liner’ really handed and kept my lips nice and moisturized. I liked the colour and felt it was natural enough for a day colour. You would need to top up to ensure that you keep your full coverage but at the price of €2 – I think this is a tiny sacrifice to bare.

The Flawless Foundation Brush

After purchasing the Flawless Foundation Brush like most things I left in awe. I found it so hard to just decide to use it. The brush was just so cute and delicate, it’s briskness do soft. I had put the brush on a pedicel and was finding out hard to break the chain of “just use it”.

My blendy sponge was absolutely manky looking and thought this is the moment – I am going to use the flawless foundation brush to blend my contouring into my face. And I was in awe! I have been converted – it really gives you a flawless finish!

I went wild and even used it for my colour correcting especially around the eye area (I use yellow), check out my original post ‘Colour Correcting‘.

For the price of the brush (check out my original post ‘Most wanted Makeup Brush‘), I have ordered more as now I can use this for multiple areas on my face. The brush is just so soft, it leaves no marks that a brush was even used.

Review of ‘Rimmel Sun Shimmer In-Shower Self Tan’

So I finally got the time and courage to use the new ‘Rimmel Sun Shimmer In-Shower Self Tan’. The product suggests that you can use all over your body (I didn’t use this on my face – just in case!) and that it takes a mere one minute to apply.

20160413_082324.jpg

I had researched about doing fake tan in your shower and I found that St. Tropez offer this also. However, they require you to turn the shower off and after 15 minutes then rinse off. So when I decided to but the rimmel in shower tan, it was really over timing.

The instructions were basic;

  1. Shower with your usual shower gel and rinse off
  2. Apply and massage the product evenly onto wet skin. The more often you apply, the more intense the tanning result will be.
  3. Rinse off
  4. Dry yourself without rubbing and dress-up!

20160430_104645.jpg

Simple instructions I find are much easier to follow as it doesn’t make the process complicated. However, in the step 2 the diagram shows the lady putting the tan with – what I took as a tanning mitt! So a tanning mitt came with me into the shower.

Before:

20160430_104352.jpg

So I showered as normal (step 1 covered), for this I did turn the shower off and tied up the aul gruig (hair for the non-Irish speakers). I applied quite generously. I noticed the amazing smell, how amazingly soft my skin started to feel and the lack of colour when applying – so I was applying blind! When all rubbed in I rinsed off by taking the shower hose down and ensuring that all was rinsed. I patted myself down with a dark towel and hoped for the best.

I applied this on the morning of the day out that I needed it for, so I really took a big chance. I noticed a slight glow of the skin and thought this was nice – could be a bit darker. As the day went on, nothing startled me to say “OH NO IM ORANGE” which in my books is a good thing!

20160501_114857.jpg

The next morning however, I woke up win a fantastic tan from the knee’s up. I was quite patchy and had tan built up around the ankles – not a good look! I don’t think this was the products fault but down to my tanning application abilities. I think once I have started to use the tan a bit more you get a knack of how to apply properly.

The overall feel and smell (so girls you don’t smell like popcorn or biscuits) I think is amazing and the ease of application I think is great – just so easy! I would however recommend that you apply the night before the day you want it as then you will have a good looking tanned body. I am still on day 5 after application and no top-up required or any patchy-ness has appeared not like the last time!

I know I will be giving this tan another go!

Cleaning your Makeup Brushes

Cleaning your Makeup Brushes doesn’t have to be a massive ordeal (even though it seems like it a times), once you have the right tools.

To clean my brushes I use olive oil & a anti – bacterial soap/wash  (this can be either a soap or waking up liquid). The olive oil is key to keep your brushes bristles in good condition.

I invested in a cleaning pad, mine is from Dealz (so expensive at €1.49) & is supposed to be for washing/exfoliating your face. My hand fits in to hold pad in place and the dirt (aka my old makeup) just runs out of my brushes.

20160410_125806.jpg

And then the messy part, dip your brush into your cleaning mixture and then brush the brush over the cleaning pad. I always know when my makeup brushes are clean when the water runs clear. Ensure excess water is removed from the brush.

Place a towel out and lye your brushes out flat to dry.

If you can’t get the helpful cleaner from Dealz, Reat Techniques have brought their own version.

Hope this helps!

Colour Correcting

Knowing your colours is the first hard task and not on the colour correcting pallete but the colours on your face.

So I looked at my own face and I could see my face is red especially my cheeks, then I can see those dark circles under my eyes which are more pink dark toned and some discolouration.

image

Then by looking at your colour wheel you can see by going directly across from one colour that you want to reduce or completely get rid of is the colour you should be using. For example to reduce my redness I look at the colour wheel and directly across from it is ‘Green’.

To treat the rest of my coloured skin  I looked at the colour correcting colour wheel and find to correct my blue under eye tones I need a yellow and then for discolouration as pale as I am I use a cream based colour.

To help me with this I used Colour Correction Palette from Boots own ‘Collection’. I sadly don’t have any great photos of what it looks like on my skin as you blend the colours into your face, you shouldn’t see any green or yellow left over as it should become part of your now corrected colouring.

Here are some other colour corrector’s that you can try out;
